Oh boy, do I have a story for you! This story was in the making for a little while now, the plan was hatched from simply seeing an opportunity & making the necessary steps to accomplish it. The day started like most, getting up & ready to go to the pointless job that is making all of the serious money off the blood, sweat, & tears of the working production staff. I was hoping to get a glimpse of a train on the way into or out of work, but I was not fortune enough that day. I did however spot a fun opportunity on the way home from work. I spotted a scaffolding setup next to a tall building down the street from a spot I know :)
The weather wasn’t super hot & I figured I had a few minutes to give it a good ol’ honest effort to scale to the top for some nice pictures. I took my markals & a joint that I rolled after work, but I didn’t use either when I was up there. I was too amazed & impressed with the view. It wasn’t super amazing or anything special, but I was happy to have climbed to the top without breaking a sweat.
The climb was fairly simply, but the tree that was adjacent to the scaffolding was intertwined with the metal ladder & the old wood clamping from side to side. I got to the top & the damn thing started shaking! I checked the structural integrity of the scaffolding & the ladder was slightly lose from the whole thing. I glanced over my should & saw a sign saying this scaffolding equipment was inspected & safe for use. It gave me a sense of relaxation knowing someone tested it…

Markal Bs are really my favorite choice of writing utensil on the metal. I do have my quarrels with the shell & holding case for them, but they work like a charm! They are cheap & efficient! You can order them by the box too! Check out their website, but don’t be alarmed by the pop-up when placing items into carts. They are only signs you’re getting a good quality product.
Some how I knew this night would end up with me climbing more, but it hadn’t hit me yet. The spot I was eyeing for a little while now would be a nice spot to catch while on the promotion tour. In all honesty, I didn’t think it would make as big of an impact as it did. It probably wouldn’t have made a splash if that news anchor didn’t put it on Facebook. I mean, I’m grateful that he did because it was hilarious the amount of people sending me the post. I heard about it early morning from Wreck & it only sky rocketed from there.
I wasn’t really using my Facebook page like that, I connected it to my Instagram in hopes of maybe using it at some point. The day came on Monday while I’m sitting in my office drinking coffee. I hopped in the comments & made a couple of posts talking to the people who were interested & upset. I found it super interesting to see a couple of users already in the mix on all of the paintings I had around the town. One user commented a lengthy quote mentioning all of the spots I hit recently & claiming his favorite was my big white letters claiming “Where did my painting go”?
A lady messaged me saying “I wish you had fallen off” & then blocked me so fast I couldn’t even think of a witty & funny response. A large majority of people were calling for the image to stay up there because it added a whimsical flair to the otherwise boring ass highway sign. Little did I know the city would be horribly upset over the brazen act of talented vandalism. They covered everything! Basically everything, they still left some of the hard to reach ones & the ones that are technically railroad property, but they painted the whole city grey. A boring & bland version of grey too, the even covered the highway poles that had long been painted in simply handstyles. They painted over some of my old paintings that were on the wrong way of traffic highways, the ones you wouldn’t normally notice unless you were walking. They covered my damn tanks that was particularly hard to get to.
I brought the retaliation onto myself to be honest. Was it worth it?
Yes.

The first stop of the night had the biggest impact! I’ve been eyeing this spot for a little while now. When I drive by it, I envision myself hoisting my weight & backup over the chain-link fence to capture hold of the ladder. From there I can just make my way up there & handle business.
The moment I got to the fence I realized it didn’t have a metal pole on the top to keep it stable, & I hadn’t noticed it while passing by in a car. No sweat, I’ll use the tree to give myself some leverage over the fence & just jump over. Worked like a charm. From there I had to snap a couple of pictures or no one would believe me! The following pictures are Ai generated…

The catwalk wasn’t that large & the whole thing was wobbling with the breeze from the cars zipping underneath. I made a slight mistake in the hairline, like many barbers know it’s hard to work under tight conditions, but I finished in about 3 minutes. I should have spent more white paint filling in it clearly, but I’ll take what I can get when one of the caps clogs up from constant use & abuse.
Yo DPW! Hire me for future use, I have skills & talents that could be beneficial if given the proper outlet.
The following pictures were from the trip back home. Saw a few extra things along the way, thought I’d share

I drive by this spot pretty regularly & I’ve always wanted to hop out of the car to place a sticker. Finally, I’m walking by & have the perfect sticker!
A video of how it’s done for those that are curious.
